Fremont Police Arrest 5 In Recent Shooting Investigations

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police have arrested five suspects in connection with violent crimes that have happened in the city this year, including three shootings and one homicide in March. The three shootings happened on March 2 and 3, and resulted in one injury. Around 4:30 p.m. on March 2, a teen fired several bullets into a vehicle in the 4100 block of Broadmoor Commons. An adult, teen, and young child were in the vehicle but were not hit. Detectives identified a 16-year-old suspect. On March 4, Special Operations Detectives arrested him in San Leandro. Police say the suspect had a handgun with an extended magazine. The District Attorney's Office has charged him with attempted murder with a firearm. Just before 8 p.m. on March 2, a shooting was reported at an apartment in the 4100 block of Bay Street. Police say that a teen forced his way into an apartment of "a known associate and began yelling before leaving." He fired several rounds from a handgun into the air near the apartment. No one was injured. Street Crimes Unit Officers found a discarded handgun and extended magazine nearby. Police arrested 19-year-old Lucky Jessop of Fremont on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm, vandalism, trespassing, and violation of a court order. He was released on a $50,000 bail. Shortly before 11 a.m. on March 3, one person was shot on Lemke Place. Major Crimes Task Force Detectives immediately deployed to known associated locations throughout the city and were waiting on Ellsworth Street when a suspect vehicle returned from the shooting scene. A 15-year-old suspect was caught after a foot pursuit. He was charged by the District Attorney's Office with attempted murder with a firearm. Police say a search warrant had been served at the Ellsworth Street residence in January, and an adult was arrested for possession of an AR pistol converted into an assault weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of fentanyl. A homicide last Wednesday is tied to the previous crimes, police believe. The shooting death happened at an apartment in the 39000 block of Fremont Boulevard. Several suspects tried to force their way into an apartment, but a resident shot at the group. One of the home invasion robbery suspects was killed and the rest got away before police arrived. Police say the suspect who dies was armed with a gun. The person who fired the fatal shot has not been arrested, but another man in the apartment, 23-year-old Brian Robles of Fremont, was arrested in connection with a January shooting. The Fremont Police Department has realigned resources as a result of the violence, adding investigators to shooting and firearms cases.
