Teenage Suspect Arrested In Connection With Two Armed Robberies

CULVER CITY, CA — A 17-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with two separate armed robberies in Culver City and detectives believe he could be connected to at least 10 armed robberies throughout the area, police said. A 73-year-old woman was attacked while walking to her car in the parking lot of the Westfield Culver City mall at 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard at 7:51 p.m. March 1, Culver City Chief of Police Manuel Cid said in a statement. The victim was struck several times during the attack by the suspects while they demanded her property, Cid said. The suspects were unable to grab any of the victim's property and fled the location in a silver BMW. In a separate robbery, a husband and wife were sitting outside a Culver City restaurant at 6251 Bristol Parkway on Valentine's Day when they were robbed at gunpoint about 8:38 p.m. Feb. 14, Cid said. The suspects then fled the location with the victim's property. Culver City Police Department detectives, along with detectives from LAPD Pacific and Wilshire Divisions, identified the suspect from both Culver City crimes as a 17-year-old from Los Angeles. His name was not immediately released. The teenager was located and arrested on suspicion of armed robbery on March 5, police said. "It is believed that the juvenile is responsible for at least 10 armed robberies throughout the local area," Cid said. "This case has been filed with the Inglewood Juvenile Court."
