DAVIDSON, NC — The American Rescue Plan, or COVID-19 relief bill, will deliver nearly $9 billion to North Carolina, with more than $41 million to Lake Norman area towns for lost revenue, protect frontline workers and maintain public services. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 is a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package, which was proposed by President Joe Biden to speed up the United States' recovery from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing recession. These funds can be used to replace lost revenue, maintain public services like firefighters and police, and protect frontline workers. "Cities and towns play a key role as builders of infrastructure, and those investments ripple throughout local economies," NCLM said in a statement. "The direct assistance offered in the American Rescue Plan will go a long way in allowing North Carolina municipalities to continue in that role and make investments that promote recovery, job growth and uplift local businesses and residents."
