Description

Art on the Rocks showcases talented local mixologists & chefs competing to create artistic cocktail & appetizer pairings—inspired by art! Art. Cocktails. Appetizers. Outside!Art on the Rocks 2021 challenges local mixologists and chefs to each create the most artistic cocktail & appetizer pairing, inspired by a piece of art by a local Art League artist. As the official kickoff to the popular Old Town Cocktail Week, Art on the Rocks is a festive fundraiser that help support the local arts community while spotlighting our fabulous local bar restaurants right here in Alexandria. Art on the Rocks ticket holders will get to sample all of the delicious pairings and vote for their favorite during the event. A panel of experts will crown the winners of the most creative cocktail, appetizer, and artwork pairing, and announce the crowd favorite.  Please join us for some artistic fun in Waterfront Park in back of the Torpedo Factory Art Center—delicious cocktail & food pairings, lively music, and imaginative art, all while supporting The Art League and our local business community! Bring your sense of creative adventure and your social distancing skills! FAQs Are there ID requirements or any age restrictions to enter the event? Yes! You must be 21 or older to attend, and a valid form of identification is required for entry to Art on the Rocks. Are there Covid protocols for the event? Yes! We'll be holding the event outside this year to maintain a safer environment for everyone. There will be timed and limited entry for our attendees and social distancing requirements will be in effect throughout the event site. Masks will be required throughout the event except in areas specifically designed for the appropriate social distance. We're also following current Covid guidelines as set by the Alexandria and Virginia Health Departments, and the CDC. How does will the "timed and limited entry" work? When you buy your ticket, you can choose from four one-hour time slots with a cap of 50 people per time slot. This allows time for you to meet the restaurants, view the art, and enjoy the cocktail pairings in the guest picnicking area—with ample of social distancing, hightop couples tables, and lawn chairs. There will be a short 15-minute break between time slots for event site cleaning. I'm not sure I want to attend in person this year, but I'd love to support the event and participate—what are my options? We understand! We're offering a "To Go: Rocks in a Box" option for our attendees this year. You can just stop by for a quick pickup at our To Go Table near the event entrance. Your To Go box will contain all of our featured cocktail & app pairings for you to enjoy at home. We also invite your support through a tax-deductible charitable donation. The Art League is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit. What are my transportation and parking options getting to the event? There is plenty of parking in Alexandria; please click here for a full map. We are metro accessible. Take the Yellow or Blue line to the King St Metro, and then take the free King Street Trolley to the waterfront (the corner of King and Union Streets). We also recommend Uber, Lyft, or Yellow Cab. The Art League encourages you to drink responsibly and to ensure that covid safety is part of your transportation planning. Where do I get in? Please enter at the event from the bottom of King Street on the Potomac(on the south side of the Torpedo Factory, behind Mai Thai Restaurant) where it intersects with the Strand. You will see signs and a grouping of tents. Do I have to bring my printed ticket? Nope! If you can pull up your ticket on your phone, we can scan it. Who's coming? Participating restaurants and event partners to be announced soon!
