Description
The Hope for the Journey Conference seeks to encourage and equip parents and caregivers to meet the needs of children affected by trauma. The Hope for the Journey conference is focused on reaching families, individuals, and caregivers considering, in the process of, or actively engaged in adoption, foster care, or kinship care. It also brings understanding and encouragement to those wanting to better understand how trauma affects the brain and a child's ability to trust, and real ways to foster connection and healing.Hope for the Journey Website The adoption journey does not end on the day a child is welcomed home; in fact, the journey is just beginning. Children impacted by adoption and/or foster care have often experienced early attachment injuries related to loss, abuse, trauma, and/or neglect. There is hope. You are not alone. The Hope for the Journey conference will equip parents and caregivers meeting the everyday needs of children impacted by adoption and foster care and further resource churches in their endeavors to be beacons of hope and encouragement for families in their congregations and surrounding communities. Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles to meet attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI is connection. At the very core of who we are exists a deep desire and fundamental need for connection, belonging, and security found only within relationship. This eternal truth can be traced back to the very beginning of time. “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’ … So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:26-27). While TBRI may be perceived as clinical in nature as it involves the complexities of science, at Show Hope, we also see TBRI as an expression of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Registration is now open and the cost is $20 a person through March 31st. The price will then increase to $25. Registration cost covers an individual or couple.
