BOSTON — Massachusetts Rep. Katherine Clark, the assistant speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, said she believes it is "fundamental to our economy" that financial support is provided to the childcare industry. Clark is re-upping a bill that would provide $10 million in grants to renovate childcare facilities and loans to support the industry. The bill previously passed the House but did not advance any further. According to Clark, childcare has been one of the industries that has been ignored and underfunded "for too long."
