Update existing large Zebra painting to White/Black/Grey

I was gifted a beautiful extra large print of a Zebra in shadows but the colors are wrong and wonder if Zebra could be painted over the golden and yellow tones and become white/grey tones (keep black of course). Get rid of the yellow tints. Possible?
