Description

Mandatory Annual Training for Rescue Swimmers and Rapid Divers to ensure skills proficiency in the water. Anyone interested in potentially taking the upcoming surface water rescue technician course offered by LSFMO (JUL 5-7, 2021), or an in-house rescue swimmer technician course should attend to test your skills and abilities in the water. All timed events are target times- if slower than target time, you need to work towards meeting the standard. This event was canceled last March due to COVID. We will maintain appropriate social distancing and wear ear-loop masks when/where appropriate during the training. If you are already a qualified rescue swimmer or rapid diver with the department, please ensure that you have a water rescue bag and rapid diver kit assigned to you for this training. Everyone in attendance should bring swimsuit, PFD, mask, snorkel, fins, towel, water / Gatorade for drinking, & change of dry clothes. Pool temp is fairly cool, wetsuits may be utilized after the initial 300-yd free-swim if more comfortable for the duration of the event. Rapid divers should bring weight belts and dive kit. All equipment must be reserved through EMS Logistics for training- please do so early to ensure availability.
