MURRIETA, CA — A 43-year-old Temecula man killed in a crash early Monday morning on Interstate 215 has been identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau. Sea-Jay Cameron succumbed to injuries from the crash that was reported at approximately 12:42 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, just north of Clinton Keith Road, in Murrieta. Cameron was in the slow lane driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta when he, for unknown reasons, veered left into the #2 lane and struck a 2013 Ford F-150 truck. The impact sent his sedan back into the slow lane and onto the freeway shoulder, where his vehicle struck and knocked over a light pole, according to the CHP. The downed fixture was laying in the #3 lane when a 43-year-old Murrieta woman behind the wheel of a 2020 Hyundai Kona struck it. The woman was uninjured, and the two San Diego residents inside the Ford truck also escaped unhurt, but Cameron died from his injuries at Wildomar's Inland Valley Medical Center at 4:52 a.m. Monday, according to the CHP and the coroner. All of the crash victims were wearing seatbelts, the CHP reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Temecula CHP, but the agency said it suspects "driving impairment played a role in this traffic collision."
