Kevin Suggs Ends Campaign For Tinley Park Mayor

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park mayoral candidate Kevin Suggs ended his campaign for mayor Monday morning, with the consolidated election just weeks away. His decision means the mayoral race is now uncontested. "After much deliberation, I have decided to end my campaign for Mayor. It has been an uphill battle and a great learning experience," Suggs said. "I have cherished the moments of meeting many residents. There is much work that needs to be done in the Village. Stay engaged to ensure that your voice is heard." Suggs said his decision to withdraw is health-related, and that he is grateful for the support he received from residents. "I am stepping back to focus on my health and well-being. I have made great strides with my fight against my Stage 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular Heart Disease, and Stage 3 Kidney Disease," Suggs said. "The fight is not over, I am winning, but I need to channel my energy at this time for my overall well-being. I am very thankful for all of you who supported me through encouragement, wise counsel, and financial support. I will forever be grateful." In October 2020, Mayor Jacob Vandenberg announced he would not seek re-election. Vandenberg said his primary responsibility in life is to dedicate his time, energy, focus and love on being a husband, father and small business owner. Suggs' departure means Tinley Park Trustee Michael Glotz is the only candidate running for mayor. Glotz, who is part of the "Our Tinley Party" slate, has been a trustee since 2017. The elections is on April 6.
