NORTHBROOK, IL — At the beginning of the pandemic, Brad Zerman found himself getting tested regularly for the coronavirus due to travel for his job. As a result, he wanted to help others get tested while on the run, so he created COVID Diagnostics. Since last month, the coronavirus testing company has been offering saliva PCR tests and rapid antigen tests for customers at Northbrook Court, in the southeast parking lot between AMC Theatres and Neiman Marcus. Customers can drive up, park and have their test done with results in 15 minutes, according to Zerman. "Our drive up and park model continues with convenience and safety and no one needs to leave the comfort of their own vehicle," Zerman said. "In the same model of not wanting to provide discomfort to the patient, our Rapid Nasal Antigen Test is administered in the person's vehicle by our client themselves." Clients text COVID Diagnostics when they arrive at Northbrook Court and a technician is dispatched to their vehicle for an overview and guide to the test. Zeman said his company has partnered with Dr. Ingrid Yiu, a licensed, board-certified physician, whose primary care medical practice is located downtown Oak Park. "We have a very nice program where patients can book an appointment online at covid19-diagnostics.com or just drive up and register from their car onsite," Zerman said. "All testing is done at the patient's vehicle and self- administered with our guidance." COVID Diagnostic works with a lab in Buffalo Grove for the PCR testing and receive results in 24-72 hours. Rapid test results are available within 15 minutes or clients can just drive off and COVID Diagnostics will notify them via email and secure portal within two hours. "Northbrook Court has been a great partner to work with from day one – they were very accommodating regarding the various ways we had planned to operate the business and offered a variety of spaces at the mall to best meet our needs," Zerman said. "The parking and security are great and we have an entrance to the space from inside the mall and one directly from the parking lot so we have a lot of options as we grow the business and now bring people inside for our anti-body testing." Zerman hopes the next step for COVID Diagnostics is to vaccinate people. He believes his company has the capacity to vaccinate 5-7,000 people per week.
