Introduction to R - GEOG 9031 This course serves as a basic introduction to R, a freely available statistical program widely used in professional, scientific, and academic communities. Course topics will include fundamentals of the R command-line interface, data management and manipulation, data visualization and graphics, basic spatial statistics, and modeling. Statistical tools available in ArcGIS will also be reviewed, and ArcGIS will be used to generate R input data and to process R output. It is recommended that students have had at least one statistics course and some experience with ArcGIS. Enrolled students are provided access to student licensing for ArcGIS and/or Erdas software, which only work on a Windows operating system. These software programs are NOT compatible with a Mac operating system. For Mac users, review alternative options here: Optional lab meetings will be held in the evening M-Th.
