JOLIET, IL —A 25-year-old Joliet woman remains in the Will County Jail facing a $25,000 bail after her recent arrest by the Will County Sheriff's Office in connection with a drug investigation. Samantha Dimitroff, who lives in the unit block of North Cagwin Avenue, which is right along West Jefferson Street, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver as well as unlawful possession of a controlled substance. According to a criminal complaint, Dimitroff had possession of heroin on March 5, and she intended to deliver between 15 and 100 grams of heroin. The Will County Sheriff's Department said that deputies on patrol near Route 53 and Caton Farm Road saw a car cross the center lane twice around 12:20 a.m. on March 5. The car was stopped in Lockport at 9th Street and Canal. The man behind the wheel gave sheriff's deputies permission to search his car, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer. "Upon approaching the passenger side deputies observed Dimitroff with a bag on her lap. As deputies performed their search they discovered inside the bag, several small bags of a powdery substance, 14 cut straws with a powdery residue inside, a prescription bottle, and various other pills and smoking devises. A field test at the scene produced a positive reaction to probable presence of heroin in the small bags," sheriff's reports show. The driver and Dimitroff were taken to the Will County Sheriff's Office for further questioning. The driver was released without charges. Dimitroff was taken into custody and charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver. Dimitroff remained in the Will County Jail unable to post 10 percent of her bail as of March 15.
