JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old man is recovering at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center after being stabbed early Sunday morning in the 500 block of Ward Avenue on the city's east side. Joliet police say the victim's wounds are not life-threatening. The victim refused to help police identify the person who thrust a knife into his stomach, police reports show. Squad cars responded to Ohio and State Streets around 12:30 a.m. after officers learned of the stabbing. Police later learned the victim was stabbed on Ward Avenue. "Officers determined the victim had become involved in an argument with a male suspect at which time the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach," Joliet police reports show. The attacker drove off in his car before Joliet police cars arrived on the scene. Another person helped the stabbing victim into their car to tried to drive him to St. Joe's hospital. However, the driver pulled over at Ohio and State Streets to call 911, according to police. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance then took the 28-year-old stabbing victim to the hospital. "The victim was uncooperative when questioned by officers about what had occurred," Joliet police revealed.
