JOLIET, IL — For the second time since October, a pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car at Joliet's east-side intersection of Walnut and East Cass Streets. A 40-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday night, according to police.
Saturday night's crash happened along the busy Route 30 corridor in Joliet's Ridgewood Area.
"The preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old male was eastbound on East Cass Street approaching Walnut Street at which time his vehicle struck a 40-year-old male pedestrian who was in the roadway," Joliet police said.
The badly injured pedestrian was rushed to Silver Cross Hospital. The crash remains under investigation by Joliet police's traffic unit.
On Oct. 8, Joliet Patch reported that a 51-year-old man was in critical condition after being rushed to Silver Cross Hospital. The man was found in the middle of the intersection of Cass and Walnut Streets around 8 p.m.
