Description
Participate in a study about Tinnitus!
At the Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition, Georgetown University
Our research team is conducting a study to understand brain mechanisms in Tinnitus.
Qualifying participants must:
**be at least 18 years of age;
**have no metallic implants or braces;
**have no neurological diseases.
Currently we are looking for participants experiencing Tinnitus and participants with sensorineural bilateral hearing loss (and no Tinnitus).
What will you do in this study?
Prior to participating in the MRI portion of this study, each volunteer will receive an audiological evaluation (this takes place in the Departments of Otolaryngology and Audiology) as well as conduct a couple of questionnaires and memory tests. The MRI scanning is conducted at our research-dedicated MRI facility at the Center for Functional and Molecular Imaging of Georgetown University. The actual amount of time in the MRI scanner is around 30 minutes. In the first part, you have to look at a fixation dot that is presented to you via a mirror and a screen. In the second half we will conduct measurements that do not include any active participation, so you are allowed to close your eyes and relax. The study is enjoyable and you will receive pictures of your own brain!
