CHICAGO, IL— The Cook County medical examiner's office has identified the woman found dead and tied up in a Near West Side alley Sunday morning, according to spokesperson Natalia Derevyanny.
The body of 34-year-old Melissa D. Grilli of Romeoville was found in an alley of the 2600 block of West Gladys Avenue after an anonymous caller dialed 911 at about 8:30 a.m.
"The victim was found tied up from her legs, arms and wrists," Public Information Officer Anthony Spicuzza wrote in an email. "An anonymous caller discovered the body as they threw out garbage."
Grilli's cause of death has not been released.
Chicago police are treating the case as a death investigation.
