Meet at Gladwin City Park to obtain equipment and instructions then caravan to the sampling location to collect macroinvertebrates!
Little Forks Conservancy would like to invite you to be a part of our Cedar River Stream Sampling Event on Saturday, May 15th! We will be taking samples of macroinvertebrates that live in the river to determine the water quality using a biodiversity index.
Meet at Gladwin City Park (Pavilion number TBD) to pick up equipment and instructions, then caravan with your team to the sampling location. Each team consists of a trained Team Leader, a Collector that stays in the water, a Runner, and Pickers that hunt for and pick the living macroinvertebrates from trays and place them into alcohol to preserve them. It doesn't matter if you have years of experience or none at all, we would love to have your help! Kids 10 years and older are welcome. We recommend that you wear shoes that can get muddy.
Please be prepared to wear a mask and follow current/updated CDC recommendations at this event.
