Looking for female vocalist and trombonist

Meets

Livonia MI

Description

We are looking for a female vocalist and a trombonist to round out a fun Jamaican and two-tone ska group. We are currently four musicians (age 38-42 guitar, drums, bass, tenor sax) with day jobs and teach and play out professionally for $$ as well. Ideally, we are looking for a skilled trombone player who can effortlessly transpose notes and are well versed in their scales and can effortlessly improv solos. Maybe even a trumpet player or Bari sax as well. As for a female vocalist, we would like someone who has a great range and has a knack for writing lyrics and can adapt to style depending on the song. From Phyllis Dillon to Monique Powell (Save Ferris). We are looking to jam for a couple hours every week, or more realistically, biweekly depending on schedules and play occasional local shows if and when it is deemed safe and permissible. Practice space is big (school band room in Livonia) so social distancing is not a problem. But of course, we are flexible to rotate practice spaces or another location depending on where people live and the size of the space, maybe in a garage when weather gets warmer. Most of the songs are mainly covers or originals written in the style of original Jamaican and two-tone ska. We also would like to convert a few famous jazz songs and we are not opposed to playing an occasional third wave song for fun. The four of us are quite motivated and have always wanted to do something like this and we are very well-versed in the waves of ska and can tackle any type of song, simple or complex. If you are interested, feel free and get a hold of us and we can have a zoom meeting and we can provide you with a playlist sample so you can get an idea of what we are looking for. Mike
