This Ultra Violet Sterilizer is for controlling excess algae growth in 20 gallon and larger aquariums. It also kills bad bacteria. I used it and it works like intended. The uv light is said to last 8,000 hours. I have used it only 3 months so far. It is great for algae problems. Just hang it in your aquarium and plug it in. No adjustments needed. I am down sizing my tanks to 10 gallons. This will be fine for 20 and larger size aquariums. Comes with original box and instructions. Quite easy to set up.
