CALL FOR CONTESTANTS*** Wayland Main Street welcomes Pro Pit Masters and backyard chefs to compete in this year's BBQ Cook-Off CALL FOR CONTESTANTS*** Wayland Main Street welcomes Pro Pit Masters and backyard chefs to compete in this year's BBQ Cook-Off at Main Street Celebration. Teams may compete in either the Rib or People's Choice (new this year) category or both.  Space is limited to the first thirty teams to register. Wayland Main Street BBQ Contest is a judged event. If teams are interested in selling food to the public then food vendor registration is required. Teams may register as a food vender here: Cash Prizes 1st Place Rib - $750 2nd Place Rib -$350 3rd Place Rib - $200 4th Place Rib - $100 5th Place Rib - $50 ________________________________________ Cash Prizes - People's Choice 1st Place People's Choice - $500 2nd Place People's Choice - $350 3rd Place People's Choice - $150 4th Place People's Choice - $50 We are limiting the competition to pork ribs only and the People's Choice Award competition participation is optional. All meat must be cooked on site. REGISTRATION - Registration fee is $100 per team competing which includes the optional participation of the People's Choice Award. Payment must be received in order to be officially registered.  - Team name and conduct must be appropriate for a family audience. The first contestant to register a team name will be able to use that name during the contest. TEAM SPACES - All spaces of the designated cook-off area are open and located along North Main Street (detailed maps and instructions will be provided to contestants prior to event). - All open spaces are on a "first-come, first taken" basis. No reservations are taken.  - No electricity/water is available. Quiet generators are permitted.  - Team is responsible for the cleanup of their space by Saturday, July 17, 2021 6:00PM. - No ground fires or holes are permitted. - Teams are responsible for ash and coal disposal. COOK-OFF CONTEST RULES - Contestants will follow KCBS Rules - A mandatory Chief Cook's meeting will be held at 9:00AM Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the judge’s tent. Contestants may begin cooking at any time Saturday morning. - Each team must have a chief cook. People's Choice: If entering the People’s Choice (this is an optional event in addition to the BBQ Rib Contest) each team must: 1) Pass an inspection from the Allegan County Health Department, or be State of Michigan Certified 2) be able to cook no less than 10 racks of ribs on site, which will be provided. 3) the participating team will be responsible for serving at proper temperature and sanitary requirements TURN IN TIMES - Team will turn in their entries on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM for Ribs. - The People's Choice competition will begin at 2:30 PM. - Teams must use the to-go containers provided to them during the Chief Cook's meeting. AWARDS - Contest winners will be announced on stage (intersection of Main Street and Superior Street) at approximately 5:00PM, Saturday, July 17, 2021.   The BBQ Cook-Off at Wayland Main Street Celebration is a fundraiser for the Wayland Main Street Program, proceeds will go toward downtown revitalization and community programming.  Wayland Main Street retain the right to expand these rules and regulations as we see fit.
