I agree that the homeless issue is caused by people focusing on their own greed over helping others. It is also caused by Ronald Regan closing all of the mental institutions nationwide. No politician or leader has ever worked to reopen mental facilities. Solutions to improve homelessness: Provide mental services to those who need it. Provide Drug treatment for people who are addicted. Provide a process for people to return from homelessness to the working world. Employers do not hire people off the streets. Homeless who want off the streets need a viable process to get there. And tax incentives for companies that hire homeless. More affordable housing. Many people end up on the street due tit he high cost of housing and then become a victim of the streets and the homeless lifestyle. Compassion. Do NOT give homeless folks money. Give them food, shelter and opportunity. Give them support. Cash will not get a homeless person off the street. We need Human Resources to help guide holes people back into a home. Every time you ignore a homeless person, you are perpetuating the problem. Find a way to be a part of the solution. This nation is far to wealthy to allow such a large part of our population to slip through the cracks.
