Description
Here is Jenny's story: she was rescued several months ago. It was obvious to us that she did well with people but dogs were questionable. Now we know for sure that Jenny is an absolute sweetheart with people; in fact, probably not a very good guard dog because she likes people. On the other hand, she gets excited with other dogs. We feel quite sure that Jenny should be an only dog without other dogs or small animals in the home. But, her heart and loving nature is plenty big enough for one home. Jenny is spayed, vaccinated, and will be chipped before going to a new home. There is an application and process and fee, $300. She sleeps very well in her crate at night, waits her turn to use the backyard in the morning (foster shifts dogs around). Her lips gently take treats from a human's hands, actually sidesteps the toddler in the house, and has no preference over men or women. When she first arrived Jenny had no idea what ball throwing and retrieving was all about, and we must admit, she is still hesitant. If we have two balls, throw one, wait for Jenny to return with that one, she is eager for the other to be thrown. Usually. But, now Jenny seems to love it if her foster mom hangs with her in the backyard to watch as she tosses the ball around on her own! Bounces around, runs back and forth with the ball in her mouth, finally resting in the grass on her back. We can only guess that she is an Aussie and Rottie mix. Vet says about two years old. Super alert. When on a walk, her nose and eyes move everywhere to take in the world. Are you familiar with being a calm but assertive pack leader? Are you comfortable in setting boundaries, creating a routine, providing a quality relationship with a dog? Jenny is a great girl. She is comfortable in the backyard during the day for extended periods of time. However, her overall ability to calm down and focus is greatly increased when Jenny gets to interact with her adult humans several times a day. She so appreciates fragments of time spent with her not even necessarily playing or walking her. We want her to have a yard area, a walk or two every day---she would make a superb hiking partner but since she wants to be the only dog, dog parks, dog beaches, etc is not her thing! Do you want that special dog companion? The one that will be so grateful for your attention? Jenny might be your girl. Oh, forgot to talk about her commands: she is learning but still in the process.
