Aquatics Coordinator Position Announcement Organizational Mission: Our mission is to bring out the limitless potential in young leaders through extraordinary experiences and nurturing relationships. Position Mission: To facilitate the delivery of programming that offers growth and meaningful progression for youth during the summer experience. REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS Lifeguards will report to the Aquatics Coordinator; Aquatics Coordinator will report to the Camp Program Manager. POSITION AVAILABILITY Lifeguards will be expected to work from 7:00am to 9:00pm on a typical day and additional hours when necessary. The standard work week is 6 days. This position will require living at resident camp (Lake Valley Camp) during the summer. This position shares living quarters with other employees. BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY Ensure that participants and employees are safe while participating in all aquatic based camp activities (swimming, boating, fishing, out-of-camp trips, etc). Communicate and enforce all aquatic policies and procedures; Provide regular feedback to campers and staff while they are participating in aquatic activities. Supervise lifeguards setting schedule, providing job performance feedback as needed. Develop work schedules, plan, organize & lead lifesaving skill trainings. Work with Facility Manager to maintain a clean, safe, and secure aquatic facilities. Actively participate and assist in the preparation and implementation of camp, including All Camp activities, staff training, bus duty, inventory/clean-up and more. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Key competencies: Grit, Growth Mindset, Self Management, Teamwork, Empathy, and Initiative Belief that with the right supports and access to quality programs and experiences, all young people are able to achieve at the highest level imaginable. Highly energetic with an ability to work independently and maintain a strong commitment to teamwork Calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure safety and well-being of participants and staff. CERTIFICATIONS Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (preferred), CPR and First Aid certifications required. Must obtain before the start of camp. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma/GED required. Previous experience managing in an aquatics facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Must be physically and mentally able to meet the challenges of navigating and working in a remote, natural resident camp setting. Summer camp jobs are seasonal and hours are irregular, including nights and weekends. Employees must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude under adverse conditions (i.e. hot weather, rainy weather, long days, being woken up at night by campers, etc.). Must be able to work outside for sustained periods of time.
