Mental Health First Aid is an evidence based class that will aid all faith-based communities to help someone in a mental health crisis. Description: Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. WHAT IT COVERS • Common signs and symptoms of mental illness. • Common signs and symptoms of substance use. • How to interact with a person in crisis. • How to connect the person with help. GENERAL INFORMATION: Please arrive on-time and dressed in preparation for temperature fluctuations that may occur in the training room. Coffee and water will be provided. There will be two fifteen minute breaks offered during the day along with a half hour for lunch. CERTIFICATIONS & CONTINUING EDUCATION: Participants that complete the full 8 hours of Mental Health First Aid training will secure a three-year certification
