CORE Responsibilities • Follows the policies and procedures as set forth by the Warehouse Manager (WM). • Works as directed by the WM. • Inventory and maintain packing materials. • Keep the warehouse clean & presentable. • Optimize load and handling practices to reduce claims - OS&D (Overages, Shortages and Damages) • Optimize storage capacity. • All deliveries are to be monitored both for internal employees and external customers. • Maintain storage facility for mechanical and utility optimization as directed. • Maintain a SAFE Working environment, including Best Practices by OSHA and Warehouse standards. • Prompt and proactive response to emails and all communications pertaining to warehouse activities. • General communications with the WM and Local Dispatcher as it relates to incoming and outgoing shipments. • Weekends may be required as applicable. Additional Responsibilities / Opportunities • Perform daily warehouse / facility inspections (inside and outside) as directed by WM • Works with WM on any research and development (R&D) ideas to better optimize of related job functions to the warehouse function. • Learn Allied Van Lines and northAmerican Van Lines rules and regulations. • Participate in regular SAFETY meetings with Drivers and Crews pertaining to their job function and for their situational awareness. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Excellent telephone skills • Microsoft Office Suite and other software applicable platforms to perform job. • Operate all applicable office equipment needed to perform local warehouse job. • Forklift Certified (after training – See WM) • Soft skills o Communication o Teamwork o Adaptability o Problem Solving o Creative Thinking o Work Ethic o Interpersonal Skills – maintain professional communication with all drivers. o Time Management Working Conditions • Working in extreme weather conditions at all times of the year • Sitting / standing can be for long periods of time. • Able to lift 50 lbs (minimum)
