Upper Manhattanites Can Eulogize Loved Ones At COVID-19 Memorial

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Marking the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus's arrival in New York, a group of uptown elected officials are inviting residents to share the stories of loved ones they lost in the pandemic. The Upper Manhattan COVID-19 Memorial Service will be held online starting 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14. It was organized by Councilmember Mark Levine, U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Assemblymembers Carmen de la Rosa and Al Taylor. Register to watch the Zoom event here, and sign up to share a loved one's story here. "A year after we lost the first New Yorker to COVID-19, we've now lost nearly 30,000 more loved ones, neighbors, and friends," Espaillat said in a news release. "The sheer scale of this loss has caused so much heartbreak, and for many, has not allowed for mourning." Upper Manhattan neighborhoods have been among the hardest-hit by COVID-19.
