Press release from the City of Framingham: March 12, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 03/12/2021 For further information, contact:Kelly [email protected] (508) 532-5437M (774) 285-1315 *COVID-19 UPDATE*Since Wednesday, 57 Residents have Tested Positive, 32 More have Recovered, and City Learns of Two New Fatalities Associated with COVID-19; Framingham Begins Re-opening Basketball and Tennis Courts;Community Hour Tues., March 16: Join us to Learn About Targeted Vaccine Efforts in Framingham Since Wednesday, 57 residents have tested positive, 32 more have recovered, and the City learns of two new fatalities associated with COVID-19: The number of people in the City who have tested positive for COVID-19 is 7,060. With 5,541 recovered and 232 fatalities, Framingham currently has 1,287 active cases. The Framingham Health Department contacts the people who were potentially exposed and the owners of the businesses or places of employment where the potential exposures occurred to inform and counsel them on next steps (contact tracing). In addition to the active cases, the Health Department is following 536 residents in quarantine. Framingham Begins Re-opening Basketball and Tennis Courts: The City is in the process of re-opening public courts by reinstalling the basketball rims and putting up the tennis nets throughout the park system. Some courts are still covered in snow, and we ask that people not clear them and let the warmer weather melt them this weekend. The basketball courts at Mary Dennison Park on Beaver Street, Bowditch Field Athletic Complex on Union Ave., Butterworth Park on Bishop Street, and the Bates Road ½ court are ready for play. The park's crew will continue to perform its annual spring maintenance while opening additional courts. All visitors are asked to follow all COVID-19 guidelines to keep everyone safe. Spicer and Interim Public Health Department Director Alex DePalo to discuss targeted vaccine efforts in Framingham. Attendees will be able to pose questions during the hour via Zoom's Chat function.
