ARLINGTON, MA — A 9-year-old boy from Arlington has marked an impressive milestone, channeling his extraordinary memory to recite 140 digits of pi.
Ike Palter's parents realized their son's talent when he had to memorize passwords that were "16, 17 digits long" to log on to Minecraft, his mom, Karla Palter, told Patch. Ike's father challenged him to memorize 50 pi digits, then 80 and then 100.
"It was a really fun challenge to do during remote learning," Karla Palter said.
Ike has now reached 140 digits, and Palter said his principal at Dallin Elementary School has asked if they can play the video on Pi Day.
"We're super proud of him, and we thought it was extraordinary," Palter said.
