NAUGATUCK, CT — The iconic Rosenblatt's Department Store on Maple Street which has been in business for more than 100 years will be closing this summer or fall, My Citizen's News reports. The store's owner, Howard "Howie" Rosenblatt died in February at the age of 74. His wife, Julie Rosenblatt told My Citizen's News that the family is in the process of selling the building as she can't run the store alone. Howard Rosenblatt graduated from Naugatuck High School. Upon completion of college he returned to the family business as manager of Rosenblatt's Department Store, according to his obituary via Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home. Upon his father's passing, Howie continued the business. He enjoyed each day working and chatting with various friends and customers. He always had a smile and treated each one as family, his obituary states. "Howie gave back to the community in many ways," his obituary states. "He never refused to give a donation to a group. He was a member of the VNA, HRD and Campership committees. He received the NHS Alumni Association Award and the United Way Service Award.
