Sailing Instructors at successful nonprofit sailing school. We have a large fleet of well maintained Bugs, Zests, Quests, and FJs along with 14' and 15' Achilles inflatable coaching boats. We operate from the Clinton Town Beach with beautiful views of Cedar Island and Long Island Sound.
Qualifications
18+ years oldUS Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification or greaterCurrent US Sailing membershipCT Safe Boating CertificateCurrent CPR/First Aid/AED certificationExperience teaching basic sailing to children and adults Experience implementing curriculum preferredAbility to manage multiple challenges at the same timeExperience working with groups of childrenStrong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
Implement CSC sailing curriculumTake daily attendance of students, Junior Instructors, and Shore PowerProvide feedback to parents about aspects of their child’s performanceComplete skill acquisition sheet for each sailor by the end of the week, share with families, and file in designated folder in CSC Google DriveFill out accident reports and inform parents of incidentsManage and mentor Junior Instructors to improve coaching, organizational, and interpersonal skillsEnforce CSC code of conduct and expectations of Junior Instructors Monitor Junior Instructor performance and safety while on the waterOversee beginning and end of day proceduresEnsure boats, equipment, and supplies are properly stored and securedReport all equipment issues to the Boat CommitteeCommunicate with CSC Board of Directors in order to provide sailing instruction in a fun and safe environmentThe Instructor reports directly to the CSC Board of Directors.
