Robot Monster is based in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco and we conduct product studies for in-home recording devices. Help us improve our products by participating! We are looking for a specific set of requirements for this home study: - 5-7 individuals participating, with compensation at $1000-$1200 (depending on the number of people in your household participating), for approximately 3 hours of your time. - 4 rooms in your home/apartment (ie. 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen) - Participants with darker skin tones (at least half of the participants need to be Fitzpatrick 4 or higher) - Participants must be at least 10 years or older. If an individual is under the age of 18, their legal guardian must sign a release form on their behalf. If you have participated in this home study in the past 6 months you may not be eligible.* - Your home needs to be within a 45 minute drive from the SF area - A 15 minute In home check is required before hosting/participating in the study to pre-screen your home and all individuals participating. This helps the team finalize your appointment and make sure you meet all requirements above. Demographic Requirements: In testing our cameras, we need a wide demographic of participants that is representative of the general public. We need people of various ages, genders, and skin tones. We’ve found that our previous participant data set has been skewed toward people with lighter skin tones and we’re lacking representation in skin tones with darker pigment - light brown and darker colored complexions and we need to balance our participant data to accurately represent all demographics. We measure skin tones on the Fitzpatrick scale, which is commonly used with production companies when filming, with 1 being the lightest skin tone and 6 being the darkest. We are looking for individuals ranging from the 4 to 6 side of the scale! (If you are unsure where on the scale your skin tone is, please google "Fitzpatrick Scale"). What to expect from the study and what you will be doing: We are looking for 5-7 individuals to perform general actions: -Each session will take approximately 3 hours. **All Participants must be present and available for three hours of the study -Our 3 technicians will be conducting the study in various rooms in the house asking you to: -Wave at the camera -Walk across the room -Slowly turn your head in a circle -Pretend to have a video call with a friend -Read a list of commands to a device from various distances ...and other general movements in front of the technology devices while being recorded. The data collected is solely for the purpose of development and software engineering and will not be used for any other purpose. COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: -Before entering the homes, we do a temperature check of the whole team and all participants. -Our 3 technicians will wear a KN-95 mask throughout the home study -For the study, we ask participants to be maskless while actively participating. Anytime you are not actively participating in front of the device, please feel free to remask yourself. PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE IF YOU DO NOT FEEL WELL OR MAY BE EXPERIENCING ANY COVID-19 SYMPTOMS!!
