LEMONT, IL — Construction work on Kingery Highway in Lemont will start again on Monday, according to a release from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The work includes repairs to the bridge carrying Kingery Highway over the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Lemont. IDOT said daytime lane closures will take place on the highway. Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, northbound Kingery will be reduced to a single lane, from the 107th Street and Archer Avenue intersection to just before Bluff Road. The daytime closures will remain in place for two weeks, IDOT said. After the northbound work is completed, the daytime closures will flip to southbound Kingery Highway for two weeks, IDOT said. The project, which includes a bridge deck overlay with structural steel repairs and joint replacement, is expected to be completed in May, according to IDOT. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, IDOT said. Drivers should pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
