EVANSTON, IL — Authorities identified the two men who were shot dead on the front porch of an Evanston home Friday morning as 21-year-old Jose Francisco Sanchez-Guerrero, a resident of unincorporated Glenview, and Damarcus Cokley, of Des Plaines. Both men suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead shortly after noon, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. A third victim, an 18-year-old Evanston man, was also struck. No one was in custody Saturday in connection with the triple shooting. Police said a preliminary investigation suggests a male shooter walked up a house in the 1800 block of Hovland Court around 11:45 a.m. and opened fire, striking the three men before running north across Emerson Street. "We want our community to know that we're going to be diligent about apprehending these shooters," Police Chief Demitrous Cook said. "We don't want that in our community and we're going to work tirelessly to bring resolution to this crime."
