The mission of St. John Lutheran Early Learning Center (ELC) at 7214 South Cass Avenue in Darien, IL is to connect with families to provide young children a Christ-centered education that will nurture a lifelong love of God, others, and learning. We are pleased to announce that registration for 2021-2022 is now open. Our goal is to make sure that every child in our care is seen, heard, and appreciated for the unique individual God created them to be. That is why we focus solely on children aged two through four. We specialize just in them! Our DCFS-licensed facility has safe, COVID-19 compliant, inviting, and engaging classrooms plus spacious and fully equipped outdoor/indoor play areas. Our staff is made up of well-educated, state-qualified, experienced, and caring professionals. We offer morning classes for young children with two, three, and five day options depending on the child's age. For those families, whose workday demands an earlier drop-off time or later pick-up time, we have daily before and after school extended care with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Art, and Language enrichment activities. We also host commercial extracurricular activities like Soccer Shots, Tennis Titans, and Tumblebear Gymnastics. Our curriculum emphasizes foundational social-emotional, cognitive, language and literacy, physical and health, and spiritual development. It is aligned to the Illinois State Early Childhood Learning Standards, Benchmarks, and Goals to ensure kindergarten readiness. We employ best practice which includes activities that are developmentally appropriate and multi-sensory, the use of multiple group settings, and purposeful play. We value each child's family, language, and culture and view them as a partner in their child's education. It is our belief that a strong home-school connection enhances a child's learning. To that end, we offer support and encouragement to families through regular communication, parenting resources, family activities, and networking.
