HOLLISTER, CA — The Gilroy Police Department assisted in responding to a hit-and-run incident in Hollister late Thursday night. According to a Facebook post by the Hollister Police Department, a car struck a fire hydrant near Buena Vista Road and Brandy Court. The fire hydrant was sheered from its base, resulting in a "geyser of water" spouting out. The Hollister Public Works Department responded to shut off the water. The suspect's vehicle was tracked down and impounded. The statement thanked Gilroy police for "assistance in our investigation."
