Run (or walk!) with us in solidarity against indigenous oppression in Guatemala. Join us either in person (masked-up) at the Mall in Washington DC or asynchronously from anywhere in the world for a run/walk with the Guatemala Solidarity Project. 100% of the funds from these tickets will go towards the GSP’s work in supporting our indigenous partners on the ground in Guatemala who are organizing against these injustices and who need resources for mobile health clinics and schools. The Guatemala Solidarity Project is a collaboration of activists, organizers and leaders from the United States and Guatemala who mobilize in defense of indigenous culture, rights, and land. Government, paramilitary and private security use extreme violence and legal persecution to support the economic interests of a small national and international elite. Entire communities are burned to the ground, indigenous lands are stolen for their natural resources, rivers are poisoned, forests are cut down. Mining, export agriculture, oil and related companies profit enormously while the majority of Maya children are left with chronic malnutrition. Many indigenous activists are arrested on false, manufactured criminal charges. Criminalization of indigenous people has been used as a strategy of the corrupt Guatemalan state and international corporations in order to maintain power and profit. Run with us to raise awareness about these injustices and raise the funds necessary for the GSP to support our partners on the ground in Guatemala.
