The Needham History Center's annual Pansy Day plant sale and celebration will help you beautify your home and garden.
The Needham History Center and Museum will host the triumphant return of its annual Pansy Day plant sale on Saturday, April 10, from 9 am to 3 pm. The History Center’s Pansy Day Celebration, like so many other special, seasonal events, was cancelled last year due to the Pandemic.
Although Pansy Day will be abbreviated this year, there will be pansy plants of all sizes -- flats, potted and hanging in an array of vibrant colors to purchase. Members of the Needham Garden Club are sharing their talents to create beautiful containers to adorn patios and porches. Items from the History Center Gift and Heirloom Shops will also be available for browsing and purchase.
To allow for proper social distancing, the event will be held this year on the lawn outside the Center at 1047 Central Avenue in Needham. The Needham History Center would like to thank Garrett Graham, owner of the Needham Garden Center, as the major sponsor of Pansy Day and Roche Bros. and Volante Farms for their generous contributions to this annual History Center fundraiser.
The pansy is an appropriate emblem of Needham’s history. Needham’s Pansy King was Denys Zirngiebel, a commercial grower and Swiss émigré who developed several award-winning varieties of the flower. The Town of Needham has declared April to be Pansy Month, and the Pansy to be the official flower of Needham. Stop by the History Center April 10 and pick up some flats to celebrate spring and embellish your home and garden. The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required.
