Description

Celebrate Longmont's 150th with a bicycle tour throughout the Parks with Parks Historian and bicycle tour guide. As the newer parks (circa 1999 and forward) have been developed, one of the priorities has been connecting the neighborhoods, schools and parks through a connected greenway system. We will explore Alphabet farm at Willow Farm Park as we ride West toward Blue Skies Park and then through Dry Creek Park along bike lanes and multi-use paths. Rain/snow date: Monday, May 1, 9:15 AM All tours guided by former City of Longmont Parks Project Manager and author Paula Fitzgerald and Traffic Safety Coordinator and former Art in Public Places Administrator lauren greenfield. For more information about Longmont: Stories of our Parks by Paula Fitzgerald or to purchase the book, https://www.longmontcolorado.gov/Home/Components/News/News/11396/1120?backlist=%2Fdepartments%2Fdepartments-n-z%2Fparks-open-space-and-trails%2Fdirectory-of-parks-trails%2Fsandstone-ranch. • All rides are FREE for Longmont residents (cost for non-residents? If so, how do we do that? – up to you) • For all rides: Per County COVID restrictions: 12 participants, with waitlist. If you sign up for more than one tour and are a no-show, you will automatically be deleted from your next ride. May request a slot through my email, place permitting. • Participants will be provided with waivers on day of event. • Bicycles must be in good working condition. If in doubt, please take bike to a bicycle shop before the ride. • Safety checks will be done as a group. Please be prepared with spare tube (for your tire size) in case you have a flat (we can help, but will not provide a spare tube if one is needed). If your bicycle is deemed unsafe to ride, you will not be able to participate in the group ride (for everyone’s safety). • All participants will receive a bicycle map and will have opportunity get personal autograph if you bring your copy of “Longmont – Stories of our Parks” with you or provide it at the end. • Wear: comfortable, appropriate biking clothes, HELMET, MASK (required); preferred shoes without laces. • Bring: water, snack (if desired).
