Description
This beautiful girl is named Amira, and I have come to know her the last week or so as I have been drawing her. She was brought to The Good Life`s Refuge in October and had a 7 pound mass growing on her udder. After the mass was removed, she thrived. The photo I was sent to use as reference shows her walking happily through snow and enjoying life. After a while, her belly began to swell and the rescue staff was not sure why. She was checked out by a vet, then by CSU and emergency surgery was deemed necessary as she had an obstruction. During recovery, she unfortunately passed away.
Rescues come in all shapes and sizes, but they have the same passion and love and humanity behind them. The Good Life`s Refuge has taken on the mission to rescue abused, neglected, and at risk farm animals which tend to be overlooked in general. These are intelligent, loving, and caring animals that deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I urge you to check this rescue out and support them! Here is a link to their site where you can find out more about them: https://www.goodliferefuge.org/ and here is a link to their Facebook page where you can donate to their fundraiser: https://www.facebook.com/goodliferefuge Not to sound pushy – but they have a long ways to go to meet their goal for fundraising and you can help, even if only a little! I urge anyone reading this to please share this post and get as much attention as possible drawn to this amazing cause!
A bit about the art: I am an artist living in the beautiful state of Colorado. I started out doing abstract paintings then discovered a love of pet portraits! The art is done on wood using pastels. I will be accepting paid commissions in April (yes, you can be notified when commissions open if you would like!), but will still of course be using my (although limited) fan base in order to help shelters and rescues in any way I can!
