JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Mechanic/ Welder DATE: DEPARTMENT: Mobile Equipment LOCATION: Colorado Springs CO REPORTS TO: Equipment Manager SHIFT: Various shifts SUMMARY DESCRIPTION • Repairs and maintains construction equipment, such as backhoes, motor graders, rollers, on-highway trucks, loaders, skid steers, paving machines, haul trucks, asphalt plants, dozers, and etc. Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects. Tests repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency SAFETY • Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines booklet, Safety Rules sign-off sheet and any/all information provided by the Company. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Repairs and maintains asphalt paving equipment • Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects • Dismantles equipment, machines to gain access to problem area • Repairs malfunctioning hydraulic components • Diagnoses and correct electrical problems • Changes oil, etc., checks and changes batteries • Performs preventative maintenance • Makes recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources • Requisitions parts and equipment • Utilizes Oracle eAM to schedule maintenance and create work orders • Record keeping and reporting • Provides general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility • Creates work orders and procures parts electronically • Performs computer diagnostics (Cat ET, Cummins Insite, Power Tech Tool) • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Lifting up to 50 pounds • Bending, Kneeling, stooping • Sitting, standing, climbing, walking for extended period of time • Crawling under trucks and equipment on back • Manipulating components in hard to reach places with hands or tools • Working in closed spaces and elevated heights • Tolerating noise and temperature variations and working outside QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience) • Knowledge of off-road heavy equipment • Knowledge of diesel engines • Knowledge of hydraulics • Knowledge of braking systems • Knowledge of driveline to include clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials • Knowledge of steering mechanisms and suspensions • Mechanical skills • Welding, cutting, and fabricating skills • Must have CDL class B license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days • Basic computer knowledge • Must have own tools • Ability to read and write • Ability to manipulate tools • Ability to understand manuals EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • High School diploma, trade school or equivalent VOE, E-verify Great Opportunity - Don't Miss Out!
