FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham is easing up on another pandemic restriction: the city will soon reopen tennis and basketball courts, making way for team contact sports to resume. Coronavirus cases have been falling in Framingham recently, and the city is no longer on the state's high-risk list — but many city residents are still testing positive. The city reported 57 new cases on Friday, one year after the pandemic was declared. There were also two more COVID-19 deaths reported since Wednesday. City parks crews will begin installing nets at sports courts in the coming days. Officials advised residents not to use courts that are still covered in snow. Framingham also recently reopened the skateboard park at Farm Pond Park, which had been closed for months due to the virus. Health officials also advised residents to continue to follow safety protocols, including social distancing and wearing masks.
