BRAINTREE, MA — About 25 percent of the town's nearly 39,700 residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday. The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Braintree, where those 75 or older have received the most vaccinations despite making up just 8 percent of the town's population. Seventy-three percent of those 75+ have received at least one dose, while 32 percent of them are fully vaccinated. Fifty-nine percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 12 percent are fully vaccinated. That group only makes up 10 percent of all the fully vaccinated people in Braintree, a number far outpaced by the 30-49 and 50-64 age groups. Overall, 9,735 of 39,657 residents in Braintree have received at least one dose and 4,376 are fully vaccinated.
