Job Summary: Maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities in an Healthcare Laundry setting. Including but not limited to production equipment, boilers, power distribution, lighting, etc. Performs general repairs, scheduled repairs, and preventative maintenance. Reading and interpreting manuals, blueprints and schematics to repair equipment. Does other related work as require. General Responsibilities: Safely and correctly operates assigned equipment. Safely repairs equipment in plant following manufacturer’s procedures outlined in manuals. Safely and correctly performs assigned processing activities. Correctly interprets and safely implements the Exposure Control Plan and other safety policy and procedures. Recognizes and understands the potential hazards from equipment defects and improper performance of the job. Understands the risk of injury that defective or improperly operating equipment may inflict. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: Perform maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities. Prepare plant and equipment for start up and shut down as needed. Assist fellow employees with repairs, troubleshooting, and operations. Assist with training of coworkers as needed. Assist service personnel with any repairs or service work performed within the facility. Assist supervisor with ordering of parts and services. Assist in deliveries and pickups. Assist other maintenance coworkers with daily duties as needed. Work safely with voltages 480, 277, 110 as well as control voltages down to 5 volts. Accountability and Miscellaneous: Performs other duties as directed by management. Maintain supply inventories. Maintain log sheets. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 years prior experience in maintenance or similar field required. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of safe work practices. Skill in working independently/in the absence of immediate supervision. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to complete written maintenance requests and respond to management in writing as needed. Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties. Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in facility maintenance and repair. Basic computer skills. Essential Job Functions: Must be able to stand for the entire shift which is a minimum of 8 hours per day. Between 95-98% of this time may be spent stooping, climbing, walking, bending, pushing, and/or pulling. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders in excess of 20 feet. Must be capable of regular attendance. Must be capable of working on two Saturdays per month, holidays, and overtime as needed.
