MONMOUTH COUNTY - New Jersey Walmart and Sam's Club locations are administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to people 65 and older, officials announced on Thursday. In Monmouth County, there are three Walmart stores: Howell, Freehold and Neptune. There's also a Sam's Club in Freehold on W. Main Street. Those residents can make their appointments by calling the New Jersey Senior Hotline at (856) 249-7007. Detailing their plan on a blog post, Walmart officials said that when they reach capacity, they expect to be able to administer 10 million to 13 million doses per month. "With 150 million people passing through our doors each week, we're in a unique position to reach people where they already shop," Walmart Executive Vice President of Health and Wellness Dr. Cheryl Pegus said in the post. "We're also a federal pharmacy partner and can accept federal allocation of doses in all our Walmart and Sam's Club pharmacies." The vaccine can be scheduled on the company's website. The Walmart store has not yet been added to the statewide list of vaccine sites. With reporting by Tom Davis.
