IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A Gaston County woman was arrested this week and charged with felony child abduction after she took her 4-year-old son and two-year-old daughter from a Statesville home, allegedly for a trip to the beach, Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. Amanda Jean Redmon, 26, of Dallas was to only have supervised visits with the children, and was to not drive alone with them, per a court order, ICSO said. The children's grandmother reported them missing from the home on Dobson Farm Road in Statesville Wednesday, which prompted an Amber Alert. She said this was the last time she had seen the children or Amanda," ICSO said in a statement. The sheriff's office said investigators verified that court orders stipulated Redmon was not to be alone with the children, was not to be driving alone with them, and was to be supervised while visiting with them. By Thursday morning, authorities announced that Redmon and the children were located safe in College Park, Georgia. "I am very thankful the children were located safe, and are now back safe with family members," Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement. "A lot of hard work went into locating them and the suspect. I want to personally thank the United States Marshal's Service, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, College Park Georgia Police Department, and the many other law enforcement agencies who assisted us in this investigation." As of Thursday, Redmon remained in custody in Georgia, ICSO said.
