Description
SALEM, MA — With the Salem Transfer Station's full reopening more than a month away, residents can get a headstart on getting rid of their yard waste next weekend.
The site on Swampscott Road will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 20 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 21.
The station will open fully for the season on weekends starting April 17.
Yard waste should be dropped off in a paper yard waste bag or dumped loose at the designated area of the site. Plastic bags, and stumps and branches greater than 2 inches, will not be accepted.
Curbside collection will begin April 19 and continue the weeks of June 21, Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 29 on the regularly scheduled trash pick-up day.
Residential trash is not accepted at the transfer station.
Those who have more trash than fits in carts can buy overflow carts for $2.50 each at Crosby's Marketplace and Winer Brothers Hardware.
