There are unscrupulous people who scour craigslist daily looking for free pets. THIS IS A BUSINESS TO THEM. They do not want them as pets for themselves or even the children they often bring with them to convince you that they are regular people. It's a scam to get your pet for free. Then they either sell them, hoard them or torture them. Please do not do this to your pet! Often I see posts on here warning against this by people who gave away their dog, just to see it listed on CL the next day for sale to ANYONE who wants it. Charge a small re-homing fee of at least $40 to discourage these people. Better yet, avoid craigslist completely and post on nextdoor.com (your neighbors will help you when they read it) or place a note at your local dog park.
