NORWICH, CT — A Norwich man has pleaded guilty to charges that he threatened a Bronx, NY woman, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Daniel Scott, 32, pleaded guilty to one count of making interstate threats. Police received information March 2, 2020, from a Bronx woman who said Scott had made threatening calls and sent threatening texts to her after she said she wasn't interested in having a romantic relationship with him. Investigators reviewed texts and voicemails that contained specific threats to harm the victim, according to prosecutors. One text included Scott saying that he would travel to the gym where she was employed and "…shoot tha whole gym up an end all of us…." Scott appeared at the victim's workplace in Bronx March 2. The victim called 9-1-1 and Scott was arrested by the New York Police Department on domestic violence charges. He has been detained since his arrest. Scott has two prior federal convictions for drug dealing offenses and he was on federal supervised release when he threatened the victim. At sentencing, Scott faces a maximum prison term five years and additional penalties if he is found to have violated the conditions of his supervised release.
