Thank you to a stranger

Description

You bought my groceries today when my card was declined. Your body language made it clear that you didn’t do it to receive anything from me, you just did it because you wanted to give. And even though, I said, “thank you sir” before walking out of the store with my daughter and $11 in groceries, I want to tell you what your kindness meant to me. I started to cry as we walked through the parking lot, but stopped, because ‘everything is okay’. When we got to the car I started to cry again, but stopped because ‘everything is okay’. I don’t know if my daughter buys into my act. But for today, because of you, we have some food for the snow storm and we have a big bag of peanuts for my daughter to give to the squirrels during the storm. (We aren’t allowed to have pets.) But it wasn’t two bags of groceries that you gave me. It was a reminder that maybe God, the Universe, something, is caring about me. It was a reminder that we can all be earth angels to each other. I want so badly to be an earth angel like you, to contribute, to be able to give to others. But for now, on behalf of everyone who has received a kind gesture, a smile, an act of compassion or generosity from a stranger, I say thank you. Thank you to all of you who give so freely. We really live in a special place. I’m crying again now, but I don’t have to stop it because now my daughter is asleep. It feels kind of nice, to just relax into a good cry, and know that, Everything. Is. Okay. Thank you
